About Me

Launch of Visual Studio 2005 at Estácio de Sá University in Petrópolis

MS DOS course
Born in Brazil in 1980, I became interested in computers at 9 years of age through Micro Sistemas magazine, where I followed the evolution of computers, even without having one. At the age of 12 I did my first computer course - MS DOS. The passion was so great that at age 14 I did more courses still not having a computer.

At 15 I got my first computer, a 486 DX2-66. A long history of formal and informal (self-taught) learning begins.

I started upgrading my computer and installing devices. So, I was already doing this for my friends and I decided to go deeper, taking my second degree as an electronics technician. The hobby became a profession and at the age of 17 I completed my compulsory internship as a monitor in the computer lab of the college.

Electronics fair at América club
During my high school year, there was an electronics fair promoted by the college, at Clube América, in which every student should participate and present their projects. In the third year, the category of computer science was also awarded to include students of the course of data processing. This year I won the best software award along with my colleagues. I developed an application in Visual Basic 4 to show the electronic components and their applications. The following year, I also taught the course for the University Estácio de Sá, in Laranjeiras, teaching Microsoft Word for Windows.

I finished high school, did not do any other course, and started to serve private clients for computer maintenance. It was also the time of college, where I did not want to follow the branch of electronics anymore and I opted for informatics instead. At this time I began to train at Analysis Consult, an arm of the Consult group in Rio de Janeiro, responsible for the entire IT department of the company, from the acquisition of equipment, installation and configuration of software, change of physical points of network and telephony, network administration, servers, PBX and Internet. I was hired by the company and I got to have an intern, but shortly afterwards I went out to do the MCSE Microsoft certification in Windows NT 4.

I kept my portfolio of personal clients until 2001, when I worked briefly at BMA Advogados and was later called to work at Petrobras for Exploration and Production (E& P). I started as a help desk technician, where each technician had a universe of approximately 100 users to attend. A short time later I became a team coordinator, having to participate in audits and management meetings, as well as coordinating the work of the entire team.

I did not spend much time in the help desk, as I ended up automating some solutions to the repetitive problems of our day-to-day and this gave me an invitation to work on a corporate IT project from Petrobras. This project was intended to perform the inventory of Windows devices connected to the corporate network. Thus was born the Infomaq project, the beginning of the Petrobras IT asset governance data base.
I stayed for a year in the project and ended up being invited to another project, this time linked to the scientific part and the business of Petrobras - Siplex.
Siplex team in 2014

Some Siplex modules
When leaving the technical support team I had already completed my graduation in computer networks and had also been married. I always loved the infrastructure, but wanted the destination that was directed to the development area, where again the hobby became a profession.

I returned to E&P in May 2003 to work on Siplex, a system started by two geologists in 1984, developed by them in Fortran, with a more recent presentation layer made by E&P's IT in Visual Basic 6 and persistence in positional text files (rows and columns). The initial team was composed by two analysts and my coordinator. We kept the old project until the end of the rewriting in C# .Net that would be released in December 2004 with a team of 4 people.

Receiving the "Destaques da TI" trophy
After stabilizing the initial and repressed demands, we began to create new systems and Siplex became the set of systems of exploratory planning and control. We have created, up to my exit from the project, a total of 22 independent systems, called modules, and countless libraries and support projects.

During the first years of Siplex (2004-2006), my friend Carlos Eduardo created a community of knowledge dissemination of Microsoft technologies - Net Wolf. We did some internal (business) and external events, resulting in recognition by Microsoft itself of the effort made.

"Destaques da TI" Trophy

In Siplex, my work was in all modules, some more intense where I raised requirements, coordinated, developed the back-end and the front-end and other more superficial, where I acted punctually in some of these activities on the coordination of Siplex.

The result of all this work was the various indications for the "Destaques da TI" award, where we were nominated in the category of software that added value to Petrobras business in the years of 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2014, being awarded for the years of 2006 And 2014.

In 2014, the EIS project under my coordination and development, the Well Site Panel was, besides winner of the award, the cover story of Petrobras internal magazine.

The last projects I've been involved in, taking advantage of all the lessons learned from the Well Site Panel, were the HDS and Pangea Panel, other EIS projects which spanned the entire universe of Exploration information and had a broad audience ranging from geologists to directors.

In the meantime, in addition to performing several technical courses, being able to understand the oil exploration and production market, participating in and presenting events, I also completed my postgraduate studies in analysis, design and systems management.

Unfortunately for reasons of cost cutting of Petrobras due to the history of problems presented by the company in the media, the contract with my company was terminated and there were no conditions for my continuity in the project.

And if you got here you must be wondering what I do today? Well, during this long walk I took advantage to acquire my Portuguese nationality and started a blog to talk about Portugal, Conexão Portugal. Today (and always) I am updating technologically, managing the universe associated with my blog, I seek to undertake and provide freelance technical consulting services, locally and remotely.
